BNP spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday held the government responsible for the disappearance of party's organising secretary M Ilias Ali and said it would have to be hold accountable for this.
"It's been 11 days, but Ilias Ali is yet to be found. Where is he? This is the government's responsibility to find him," he said at a press conference at the BNP's Naya Paltan headquarters. "The government will have to hold accountable for Ilias Ali's disappearance," added Fakhrul, also the acting secretary general of the party.
He has announced two more consecutive countrywide shutdowns for Sunday and Monday from the press conference. Responding to a query, Fakhrul said, "The moment Ilias is returned alive, we'll withdraw the general strike."'
He said fresh protest programmes would be announced on Apr 30 after the shutdowns.
